The prevention of diseases is one of the greatest societal challenges facing our country. Already, healthcare consumes a substantial portion of government spending, and we are facing a shortage of hands-on deck.
For Chiesi, a major producer of medication for COPD patients, we coordinate the campaign to prevent COPD in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, 1.3 million people suffer from this chronic and deadly lung disease. Approximately 80% of all COPD cases are caused by smoking. Therefore, we support Chiesi in preventing children from starting to smoke. We do this, for example, in collaboration with the Youth Smoking Prevention Foundation by striving for a Smoke-Free Generation by 2030. We believe it is important for companies to contribute to solving societal problems. Chiesi, the only pharmaceutical company with a B-Corp certification, demonstrates with this campaign that they prioritize people's health.
